At Sandprints, we pride ourselves on being a full service Boutique Photo Studio. This means, we like to take care of you every step of the way to getting the most beautiful portrait art in your home.
Step One: We listen as you tell us what you are hoping for with your photography. We guide you towards that goal, with years of experience and talent.
Step Two: We choose your location and schedule your portrait session any day of the week, preferably around sunset to get that glorious golden light. Timing can also be flexible depending on the location, but bright sunshine overhead (midday) is not ideal.
Step Three: We head off to the beach, woods, fields to take spontaneous, natural portraits where you are simply yourselves. The result: authentic, beautiful images which show your connection, your love, your joy.
Step Four: Together, we review your images. Doing this with a trained professional on-hand can quickly narrow down your choices, so you walk away and hour later with an exciting plan for your art. This meeting with us can equal days of painstakingly looking through the images and trying to decide on your own. If you can't manage this in person, we can easily talk through your options on the phone or in a zoom call so we can show you all the details of your pictures up close.
Total turnaround time from taking your pictures to holding something special in your hands can be as little as three weeks, if you order promptly. (Please note our ordering policy at the bottom of this page).

How does our Portrait Session work?

Anything can happen when you are out on a portrait session. And that is just the way we like it. Sure, we love to take those classic pretty portraits with everyone smiling nicely and looking at the camera, in a beautiful location with a phenomenal view.
BUT ALSO, we like to dig a little deeper to capture natural, sweet moments between family members.
For this reason, it is nice to have a little bit of a walk planned into the session. It might be a simple stroll from the dunes to the water's edge. During that time, the waves crash, the birds call out and you guys start to relax and forget about the camera.
Our sessions are usually about an hour, around the sunset 'golden hour'. We offer suggestions of places to stand, things to do, but also like to go with the flow of your group.
Frankly, I am also a serious goofball and will do whatever it takes to make you laugh your head off! The single most important thing about our Portrait Sessions is that we have FUN.

We offer portrait sessions every day of the week, all over SLO County (and beyond). Tell us about your family and what you are hoping to see in your pictures, on your walls and in your hands! Let us know your preferred date, and we will try to make it happen. Payment of the Portrait Session fee confirms your booking. You will be invoiced via email, and can simply pay your invoice online, totally securely.
We then start to look at location options and talk about your family's wishes & needs. Remember, the more we know about you and your family, the better we can photograph you.
The Nitty Gritty: Pricing, Cancellation & Ordering Policy
Cancelling a session longer than two weeks before your date incurs no fee. Cancelling a session within two weeks of your date is complicated, as obviously the date could have been given to another client. However, we do our best to work with you, whatever your circumstance. Postponements incur no extra fee and we are always flexible because of the coastal weather.
After your portrait session, we will email you with either an appointment to view your images in a zoom meeting together, or a link to an online gallery - as you prefer. ** Please note: we require your order within two weeks of viewing your images.** This helps our clients to stay focused and make good decisions. It helps us to run our business smoothly and efficiently for all our clients. A bit like dominos, when one client falls behind, everyone suffers. To that end, we do enforce a strict $200 late fee on orders which take longer than two weeks, unless otherwise discussed in advance. We are here to serve you as best we can, but please let us know if you can not meet the deadline so we can plan accordingly.
We also expect you to review our prices carefully before booking a session with Sandprints. Nobody likes a pricing surprise at the tenth hour! Forget any assumption of how a photographer's pricing works. Every photographer does this differently. After twenty years in this business, we have honed our process very thoughtfully to provide the best possible all-round service we can.
The links below give you access to our current price list and a host of photographs of our exceptional wall art products. We offer only the best quality photography products, which are custom made only for professional photographers.
Please note that we do not sell the high resolution digital files because we consider the images to be works of art. A beautiful work of art, poorly reproduced by a consumer printer will be quickly ruined simply by being too dark or with too little contrast, or even leave your faces in shadow (horror!). We want to make art which you will treasure, and this means taking great care every step of the way with your pictures. There is an art to making the final product, as well as taking the photograph itself. This means you may end up with only a handful of images, but they will each be exquisite and beautifully made.
We do, however, provide a small digital file of every print or product purchased so that you can share your images on social media, as a computer screen saver or in a digital frame.
